The holy city of Najaf hosted a memorial gathering commemorating the late Grand Ayatollah Sayed Muhammad Saeed Al-Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) during the annual observances marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Hussain Zain Al-Abideen (peace be upon him).

The ceremony was attended by prominent religious scholars, seminary teachers, and students from the Hawza in Najaf. Speakers reflected on the life and legacy of Imam Zain Al-Abideen (peace be upon him), highlighting his role in preserving the message of Karbala through his supplications, teachings, and steadfastness. They described his legacy as a model of patience, worship, knowledge, and moral leadership during one of the most difficult periods in Islamic history.

The gathering also paid tribute to the life and contributions of Grand Ayatollah Sayed Muhammad Saeed Al-Hakim, recalling his commitment to Islamic scholarship, his adherence to religious principles, and the sacrifices he endured while defending his beliefs during periods of political oppression. Speakers noted that his life reflected the values exemplified by Imam Al-Sajjad (peace be upon him), including piety, humility, and devotion.

Participants emphasized that commemorating Al-Hakim is also a tribute to Najaf's longstanding tradition of religious scholarship. They praised his extensive scholarly contributions, which continue to serve as valuable references for seminary students, as well as his ethical legacy, which remains deeply respected within the Hawza and the wider Najaf community.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the continued guidance of the religious leadership and for Allah to grant the late Grand Ayatollah Al-Hakim His mercy and reunite him with his pure forefathers. Attendees also prayed that followers of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) would continue to draw inspiration from the teachings of the Imams and the example set by devoted religious scholars.

Grand Ayatollah Sayed Muhammad Saeed Al-Hakim, one of the most prominent contemporary religious authorities of the Najaf Hawza, passed away on 25 Muharram 1443 AH.
