The Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the opening of the Al-Tal Al-Zainabi site exclusively for female pilgrims from the 7th to the 13th of the holy month of Muharram, as part of efforts to accommodate the large numbers of visitors expected during the annual commemorations.

Speaking to the Shrine’s official website, Engineer Hussein Redha Mahdi, Head of the Expansion Projects Department, said the initiative aims to provide additional space for female mourners and facilitate the performance of visitation rituals and acts of worship in a comfortable and organized environment.

Mahdi explained that extensive preparations have been completed at the site, including carpeting the area, installing black banners and flags that reflect the atmosphere of mourning during Muharram, and carrying out comprehensive cleaning and fragrance services in keeping with the sanctity of the location.

He added that dedicated pathways have been arranged to ensure smooth movement for female pilgrims, reduce congestion, and enhance safety and accessibility throughout the commemorative period.

According to Mahdi, the measures form part of an integrated service plan implemented by the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to provide logistical support and essential services for the large numbers of female visitors arriving from across Iraq and abroad.

The preparations are intended to enable female pilgrims to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and renew their pledge to the values of Karbala in an atmosphere of reverence, comfort, and spiritual reflection. The initiative also reflects the Shrine’s ongoing commitment to facilitating religious observances and serving visitors during one of the most significant periods of the Islamic calendar.
