Imam Hussain Holy Shrine advances “Al-Diyar Al-Tayyiba” Residential Complex in Karbala
Under the directives of the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, the Department of Expansion Projects at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain has announced the continued progress of the “Al-Diyar Al-Tayyiba” residential complex—an initiative aimed at providing housing for underprivileged families in Karbala Governorate.
Engineer Hussein Redha Mahdi, Head of the Department, stated that work is ongoing in line with the guidance of Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey. He noted that the project includes a total of 422 residential units. Of these, 232 units have already been completed and furnished, with 204 units handed over to eligible beneficiaries. Construction is continuing on the remaining units.
Mahdi further explained that the development spans an area of 10 hectares and is designed as an integrated residential community. It includes a central mosque, two schools, sports and recreational facilities, and an advanced water treatment and desalination system to ensure sustainability and high living standards. Notably, green spaces make up 40% of the total area.
He emphasized that the project represents a significant step toward strengthening social stability by offering safe, comfortable housing equipped with essential services and built to high-quality standards.
The “Al-Diyar Al-Tayyiba” complex is part of a broader range of service initiatives led by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain through its Department of Expansion Projects, all aimed at enhancing infrastructure, improving living conditions, and preserving the dignity of the community.
