The Strategic Projects Department, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, confirmed that work is progressing steadily on the Khatim Al-Anbiya Hospital for cardiovascular diseases in Karbala. The project aims to strengthen medical capacity and provide advanced surgical services nationwide across Iraq.

Project director Engineer Maytham Al-Qurayshi stated that the initiative is designed to enhance healthcare capabilities and deliver specialized medical and surgical services throughout the country. He noted that the project has reached an advanced stage of completion.

He added that the hospital is one of the flagship healthcare projects developed in accordance with the latest international standards. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, and construction is advancing rapidly with significant progress achieved.

The hospital is being built on a 16,000-square-meter site, with a total built-up area of 35,600 square meters. The main building will rise 11 floors and accommodate 157 beds. It will also include seven modern operating rooms—one of which is a hybrid operating room—as well as four specialized catheterization laboratories.

The facility will feature multiple intensive care units, including ICU, CCU, and NICU, in addition to a neonatal resuscitation unit. The fourth floor will house 28 private patient rooms, while the fifth floor will include 32 private rooms designated for patient recovery and intensive care.

The project also includes a six-level parking structure and a dedicated utilities building equipped with electrical transformers and backup generators.

This hospital is part of a broader series of service and engineering initiatives undertaken by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain to support the healthcare sector and expand access to comprehensive medical care. It is expected to enhance the quality and efficiency of specialized treatment and surgical services in Karbala and across Iraq.
