Imam Hussain Holy Shrine launches school greening campaign in Kirkuk

The Department of Youth Social Development and Rehabilitation, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, has launched a volunteer campaign to beautify school environments and plant trees across several schools in Kirkuk Governorate. The initiative is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to support youth engagement and serve diverse segments of society across the region.

In a statement to Karbala Now agency, the Head of the Department, Ali Zaki Al-Tamimi, said: “This campaign is among our newly introduced initiatives and saw the participation of around 15 young volunteers from the governorate. They contributed to tree planting and improving school surroundings, helping to promote a spirit of cooperation and volunteerism.”

He added: “In parallel, the Department has also launched a school-based initiative across seven Iraqi governorates, featuring a range of educational and developmental activities, along with competitions aimed at supporting students and preparing them for the examination period.”

Participants praised the efforts of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain and the Department for their continued support of youth, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in strengthening community engagement and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
