The Supreme Religious Authority condemns the "unjust war" on Iran and calls for immediate halt to escalation
Statement reads as follows:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The military aggression against Iranian territory has continued for several days, resulting so far in the martyrdom of a large number of citizens, including many defenders of their country, as well as dozens of children and other innocent civilians. The attacks have also caused significant damage to both public and private property. As expected, the scope of retaliatory military operations has expanded to include several other countries, with many areas and facilities suffering damage in scenes that the region has not witnessed for a long time.
Taking a unilateral decision—outside the framework of the United Nations Security Council—to wage a comprehensive war against another member state of the United Nations in order to impose certain conditions or overthrow its political system, in addition to violating international conventions, constitutes a very dangerous precedent and portends extremely serious consequences at both the regional and international levels.
Such actions could lead to widespread chaos and prolonged instability, bringing devastation to the peoples of the region and harming the interests of others as well.
The Supreme Religious Authority, while condemning in the strongest terms this unjust war, calls on all Muslims and freedom-loving people around the world to denounce it and stand in solidarity with the oppressed Iranian people. It also reiterates its appeal to all international actors and nations—particularly Islamic countries—to make every possible effort to immediately halt this war and to seek a just and peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue in accordance with international law.
