The Department for the Care of Families of Martyrs and Wounded Veterans at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the launch of its annual Ramadan campaign to distribute food baskets to beneficiary families across several Iraqi provinces.

Emad Al-Jash’ami, Head of the Department’s Media Unit, stated that approximately 2,500 food baskets are being distributed as part of the Shrine’s ongoing humanitarian programs aimed at supporting the families of martyrs and wounded servicemen.

He explained that this year’s campaign covers the provinces of Basra, Muthanna, Diwaniyah, Babylon, and Karbala.

According to Al-Jash’ami, the baskets contain essential food items needed during the holy month of Ramadan, helping to ease living pressures and reinforce the values of social solidarity and mutual support. He emphasized that the initiative seeks to alleviate economic burdens on the families of martyrs and the wounded, particularly in light of current economic challenges.

He further noted that the distribution process is being carried out through carefully organized mechanisms and pre-approved lists to ensure that assistance reaches eligible families with fairness and transparency. The campaign is supervised by coordinators of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in the respective governorates.

Al-Jash’ami affirmed that the department continues to implement impactful initiatives aimed at strengthening community solidarity and supporting vulnerable groups throughout Iraq.

This campaign is part of a broader series of humanitarian and service programs carried out by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine year-round, underscoring its continued commitment to its religious and national responsibility toward the Iraqi people.
