At the invitation of Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, and Mr. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayechi, Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, a coordination meeting was held bringing together the secretaries-general of several holy shrines and religious sites in Iraq.

The meeting aimed to discuss mechanisms for improving services provided to pilgrims and elevating the overall quality of care offered to the millions who visit the holy city of Karbala annually.

Mr. Abdul Amir Taha Al-Mutairi, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, stated that the discussions covered a wide range of organizational and service-related matters. These included developing reception and crowd-management plans, strengthening health and security measures, adopting modern systems for managing large gatherings, and expanding infrastructure capacity to accommodate the steadily growing number of pilgrims.

He added that the secretaries-general emphasized the importance of unifying efforts and exchanging expertise among religious institutions. Such coordination, they noted, contributes to raising service standards and reflects a distinguished, organized, and civilizational image in the management of major religious events.

The meeting forms part of a broader series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience and ensuring that visitors to Iraq’s holy shrines benefit from safe, efficient, and well-organized services.
