Iraq chairs meeting of senior officials of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The Iraqi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Safia Talib Al-Suhail, chaired the preparatory meeting of senior officials of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on Saturday at the headquarters of the Organization’s General Secretariat in Jeddah.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received by Karbala Now Agency, it was announced that the meeting, which will continue for three days, is attended by assistant secretaries-general, official delegations, and representatives of OIC member states.

The statement noted that Iraq welcomed the hosting of OIC member states in Baghdad—the City of Peace—in April 2026, as part of the upcoming OIC activities.

According to the statement, member states expressed their congratulations to Iraq on assuming the presidency of the 52nd session of the Organization, praising the ongoing preparations and commending Iraq, the land of civilizations, for hosting the session.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that the meeting is part of the continuing preparations for the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC member states, aiming to strengthen joint coordination and ensure the success of the forthcoming Council meetings.
