Al-Warith International Foundation treats patient with rare disease using nuclear medicine therapy
The medical team at Al-Warith International Foundation for Cancer Treatment, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, has successfully treated a patient suffering from a rare disease using nuclear medicine therapy (MIBG).
Dr. Farah Mohammed, Deputy Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the foundation, stated that the patient had been battling neuroblastoma for eight years and recently underwent treatment using the MIBG technique, which has only recently been introduced in Iraq.
The patient explained that the disease had spread throughout her body in 2019. After consulting multiple physicians and undergoing several courses of chemotherapy, she was ultimately able to receive treatment at Al-Warith International Foundation for Cancer Treatment. She noted that this step marks the beginning of a hopeful new phase in her treatment journey, made possible by the foundation’s advanced medical capabilities and specialized care.
It is worth noting that Al-Warith International Foundation, under the auspices of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, has successfully treated numerous rare cases using the same nuclear medicine therapy, further highlighting its leading role in providing advanced and specialized cancer treatment in Iraq.
