The Joint Operations Command confirmed on Monday that Iraq’s borders are fully secured and managed through integrated field and technical measures.

Lieutenant General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell at the Joint Operations Command, said in a statement received by Karbala Now that “the Iraqi borders are fully secured and under strict control by the relevant security forces.” He explained that the Border Forces Command continues to carry out its duties in line with carefully developed plans that rely on advanced monitoring systems, modern technical and technological measures, and reinforced field fortifications. These efforts, he noted, ensure the highest levels of security and stability along the border areas.

Maan added that, with support from within Iraq and across the entire border strip, multiple successive and fortified defensive lines have been established. These positions are manned by various Iraqi security units from different branches and specialties, enhancing the forces’ ability to respond effectively to any emergency.

He emphasized that this organized deployment reflects a high level of readiness and ongoing coordination among all security branches responsible for protecting Iraq’s borders. He also noted that these measures coincide with the Iraqi army’s full assumption of control over Ain al-Asad Air Base, a step that underscores national sovereignty and strengthens the armed forces’ capacity to manage the security file with a high degree of efficiency.
