Imam Hussain Holy Shrine announces overall completion rates for Karbala International Airport
The General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) has announced the latest completion figures for the Karbala International Airport project and its associated facilities.
Hassan Rashid Al-Abayechi, Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine, stated that “Karbala International Airport represents Iraq’s strategic gateway for transportation and air navigation, with an overall completion rate of 89%.”
He further explained that “the visitors’ terminal, which will feature world-class architectural design and aesthetics, has reached a completion rate of 58%,” adding that “the completion rate for the remaining facilities has reached approximately 95%.”
Al-Abayechi noted that “the airport is designed to handle 26 aircraft per hour, and at full operational capacity, it will be able to receive around 265 aircraft daily. It is also capable of accommodating the largest aircraft in the world,” emphasizing that “Karbala International Airport will be the largest in Iraq and is fully equipped to manage all operational requirements.”
He concluded by stating that “the airport includes two large parking areas for the visitors’ terminal. The main parking hall can accommodate approximately 1,450 vehicles, equipped with full services and designed with exceptional aesthetic features.”
