Ministry of Transport sets final date for resumption of operations at Mosul International Airport

The Iraqi Airports Authority, under the Ministry of Transport, announced yesterday, Tuesday, that Mosul International Airport will resume operations next Thursday.

The Ministry’s media office stated in a press release received by Karbala News Agency that, “Following directives from the Minister of Transport, the resumption of domestic flights at Mosul International Airport has been announced, paving the way for international flights in the near future.”

According to the statement, Airports Authority Director Hussein Al-Zubaidi confirmed, “The airport is fully prepared in all technical and logistical aspects, including navigational equipment and passenger service facilities.” He added, “The airport was built to international standards, with systems from reputable manufacturers, all of which have undergone inspections by specialized committees confirming their readiness and compliance with safety standards.”

Al-Zubaidi noted that coordination is underway with Iraqi Airways to operate domestic flights according to schedule, as preparations continue for the launch of international services.

The statement emphasized that specialized technical and administrative teams are overseeing airport operations, while support departments have begun work to ensure the resumption of services meets the highest standards.

It also highlighted that the first trial flights to Mosul Airport took place on June 5, carrying an official delegation. The Ministry of Transport is working closely with the Nineveh Governorate to operate the airport, emphasizing its importance as a key link for development, tourism, investment, and economic growth in the region.
