As part of the Iraqi-Chinese framework agreement, the Iraqi Ministry of Health has signed a new contract to construct a 100-bed hospital in the Rahmaniyah area of Baghdad. The project is included in the Ministry’s 2024 investment budget.

Dr. Wael Al-Kubaisi, Director General of the Karkh Health Department, confirmed that the hospital is one of 16 medical facilities to be built across various Iraqi governorates under the terms of the agreement with China.

He noted that the contract covers the full construction of the hospital, as well as its furnishing and equipping with modern medical and laboratory equipment. The project is scheduled for completion within three years, in compliance with both the Ministry’s standards and international healthcare construction guidelines.

“The new hospital will significantly enhance healthcare services for residents of Rahmaniyah, Al-Shu'la, and the surrounding areas,” Al-Kubaisi stated.
