The Annual Preaching Conference, organized by the Religious Affairs Department of the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, commenced on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Holy Shrine’s courtyard. The event drew the participation of over 1,500 male and female preachers from across Iraq and abroad, in preparation for the Muharram and Safar seasons.

Sheikh Ali Al-Mutairi, supervisor of the Women’s Religious Preaching Division, highlighted that the conference aligns with the guidance of Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him): “Revive our cause—may God have mercy on those who revive our cause.” He emphasized that the tears shed for Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) are not merely emotional expressions but carry deep ideological, educational, and moral significance.

Al-Mutairi noted that this gathering marks the launch of the annual missionary season, during which more than 300 preachers will be dispatched across Iraq to promote the messages of Lady Zainab (peace be upon her), the importance of prayer, the value of hijab, and the principles upheld by Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).

He added, “We continue on the path of Hussain, firmly grounded in his principles. We pray to remain steadfast in our service to Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) and to be among those granted Hussain’s intercession on the Day of Judgment.”

Enhancing Missionary Skills and Promoting Unity

Sheikh Karim Al-Jafari, Head of the Religious Missionaries Division, explained that the goal of the conference is to enhance the skills, ethics, and awareness of the preachers ahead of the Ashura season. This year's conference stands out for its large turnout and well-structured workshops.

He stressed the importance of developing a balanced and inclusive religious discourse that avoids sectarianism, fosters unity, and respects social diversity. Al-Jafari noted, “His Eminence, the Supreme Religious Authority Sayyid Ali Al-Husseini Al-Sistani, has emphasized that preaching should be a source of security and cohesion, not division.”

Expanding the Reach of Religious Missions

Al-Jafari further announced that this year’s preaching efforts will extend to all Iraqi governorates as well as international locations, including Pakistan and several African nations. Upcoming activities are also planned in Ahvaz and Abadan (Iran), in response to community requests.
