Hong Kong has been named the “Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year” and secured third place among non-Islamic countries in the Mastercard-CrescentRating 2025 Global Muslim Travel Index, marking a significant step in its efforts to attract Muslim travelers.

The announcement, made by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, highlights the city’s growing appeal through improvements in halal dining, prayer facilities, and cultural inclusivity. Hong Kong now ranks just behind Singapore and the UK, reflecting its rising profile in the global Muslim travel market.

Commissioned by the Tourism Board, the assessment by Singapore-based CrescentRating evaluated Hong Kong’s services tailored for Muslim visitors. Over 60 establishments have received Muslim-friendly accreditation, with several major hotels earning top ratings for offering halal food, prayer spaces, and other amenities.

Peter Lam Kin-ngok, Chairman of the Tourism Board, credited the city’s progress to strong cooperation between the government and tourism sector, emphasizing that continued development will help Hong Kong meet the growing demand from Muslim travelers.

While the city has made notable progress, experts say there is still room to expand and further enhance the Muslim visitor experience.
