The Warith International Oncology Foundation in Karbala has achieved a significant milestone by securing accreditation for a medical physics residency program in radiation oncology from the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP). This makes it one of the first accredited programs of its kind in the region.

Dr. Haider Al-Abidi, Head of the Health Authority, stated, "The accreditation, valid from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2028, is a global recognition of the quality and academic rigor of the foundation’s training program, developed in collaboration with the Iraqi Medical Physics Society."

He emphasized the vital role of medical physics in modern cancer treatment, noting, "At Warith Foundation, we consider medical physics on par with other major international centers. Effective use of advanced radiation therapy techniques is not possible without skilled medical physics professionals, who are essential to both treatment accuracy and patient safety."

Dr. Al-Abidi also noted that the official accreditation certificate can be viewed on the IOMP website at:

He added that this achievement sets the stage for the development of additional advanced training programs in fields such as diagnostic radiology physics, interventional physics, and nuclear medicine.

In closing, he congratulated the team and all collaborators on this accomplishment, reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to excellence in specialized medical education and training.
