The Al-Abbas Holy Shrine held discussions with the Chinese company China Highway to explore opportunities for joint cooperation across various sectors. The meeting took place during a visit by the director of the company’s Middle East branch to the holy shrine.

Kadhem Obada, a member of the Holy Shrine’s Board of Directors, stated, “The Holy Shrine adopts a policy of openness toward all international companies, both inside and outside Iraq, in line with its approach to developing its service and development projects.”

He added, “The company’s delegation submitted an official request to hold this meeting with the aim of discussing areas of joint cooperation in several vital sectors, as well as reviewing a memorandum of understanding to establish factories inside Iraq. These factories would support the national economy and provide job opportunities for the Iraqi workforce.” Obada stressed that “all projects at the Holy Shrine are aimed first and foremost at serving citizens and the country, before any profit considerations.”

Obada noted that the shrine presented its most prominent current projects and future plans during the meeting. The Chinese delegation expressed its admiration for the level of services and projects managed by the Holy Shrine and affirmed the company’s readiness to provide technical expertise and pursue new areas of cooperation.

For his part, Tony Lee, the branch director, said, “I came to the city of Karbala and met with the administration of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine to discuss the possibility of cooperation after witnessing the remarkable development it has achieved in recent years, especially in the field of agriculture.”
